Writing an NCO evaluation report (NCOER) is an annual requirement in the Army. The finished product is the single most important factor in promotions and successful careers. This community resource is intended to make this task a little easier. Below are examples for each of the required categories in an NCOER. Good luck!
The following forms are used for the NCO Evaluation Report (NCOER).
DA Form 2166-9-1A (Support Form)
DA Form 2166-9-1 (E-5, Direct-level)
DA Form 2166-9-2 (E-6/7/8, Organizational-level)
DA Form 2166-9-3 (E-9, Strategic-level)
NCOER bullets must be preceded by a lower-case letter "o" to indicate the comment's beginning. Each bullet comment should begin with a lower-case letter unless it's a proper noun that is normally capitalized.
NCOER entries must begin with verbs or possessive pronouns (his or her); personal pronouns he or she may be used.
NCOER statements should use past tense when describing performance or contributions.
NCOER entries must be short, concise, and to the point. They cannot be longer than two lines.
